Introduction

According to a Gallup Poll taken in the 1990s, approximately two thirds of the American population considered themselves to be Christians. If we count children in the number, that's almost 200 million people. Are all these folks who make this claim really Christians? In fact, how does one actually know he or she is truly a Christian and what does this mean or confer upon that person? Are people born into Christianity, or do they choose at some point to be-come a Christian? What is the true Christian church? Are all denominations (about 1000 at last count) part of it, and are these divisions ordained in the Bible? Does the Bible ordain the multiplicity of rituals practiced by denominations? Why don't all Christians manifest a 'sign' gift like speaking in tongues? Was America formed as a Christian nation-as many believe-and, if so, is it still one today? Does God favor America-because of its Christian domi-nance- over all other nations? Are the Christian holidays practiced in ! America and the West ordained by the Bible? Is the Bible written exclusively to the Christian church, or is it pre-dominately a Jewish book? Are Christians, Jews and Muslims worshipping the same God? Is Israel still God's chosen land? Do all roads (all religious beliefs) lead to "the top of the mountain," or is there only one way? Is the Bible full of contradictions, as many say it is? Are the dozens of different translations of the Bible on the bookshelves all the absolute word of God? Do other religious writings contain the same truths as the Bible? Can we know beyond the shadow of a doubt that we are accepted by God, and are bound for heaven, or do we have to wait until we die to find this out? The answers to all these questions (and many more) are clearly spelled out in the Bible if it is approached and studied the right way.

This book is written for those who have never read or studied the Bible, but would like to know what it has to say to them, as well as those who have, and still find they have a lot of unanswered questions, or see troublesome contradictions that they have been unable to recon-cile. In the next few hundred pages I hope to provide clear, logical, Biblical answers to these and other perplexing questions by employing a method of Bible study and exegesis called "Rightly Dividing." I believe that only through this method of study can we clear up apparent contradictions, and know and find the vital truths and hope in the Bible concerning who we are, and what God-through his eternal word, the Bible-has provided us.
